Rachel Grunig
Fiber Artist
Rachel Grunig is a natural dyer whose work is deeply rooted in environment and season. Starting with color found in local flora, Rachel’s process forges a connection between what the earth provides and what we’ve built upon it. Rachel manipulates plant-dyed textiles primarily through weaving, crochet, and draping. As an emerging, self-taught artist, Rachel directs energy towards projects that focus on themes of nature, community-building, and healing. She holds a deep love for creating in collaboration with others to evolve work that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Project Statement
Grief is many-faceted and long-lived, and while it may mellow in time, it remains. I offer color pulled from our landscape, transmuted to fiber and intertwined into a soft, soothing cladding. These woven paths echo our own lives - where we started, where we are going, and manner in which we traverse time and space.
Visitors to the Dye Garden will be met with the opportunity to participate in a collective recognition of grief by adding their own weaving into an arbor. I offer up lengths of ribbon, imbued with color, for visitors to select and add to our structure. These lengths will compound as our visitors grow, creating a testament to a shared, yet unique, human experience.

Grow with us.
Lacewing Fine Gardening and Botanical Design is an ecological landscape design/build company that creates naturalistic outdoor spaces. Our landscape designs celebrate four season interest with a focus on beautiful and beneficial plant choices that support pollinators and create magic in a vase arrangement. Our landscape construction projects prioritize natural materials and building techniques. We are a passionate group of designers, builders, plant nerds, natural stone enthusiasts, dry stack wall builders, and wild floral designers with a deep love and respect for nature. While this is our first year participating in the show, we are looking forward to celebrating 10 years of building gardens in November 2025.
